2007
Where It All Began

Founded by Steve & Lynne Jenkins, the company began as Rational Technical Services, providing specialist servicing and maintenance for RATIONAL's key account customers.

This laid the foundations for the business R-TEC has become today.
2009
Our First Premises

As the business continued to develop, we moved into our first commercial premises, providing a dedicated office space to support our growing operations.

With the team beginning to expand, this marked an important step in establishing the foundations for future growth.
2012
Growing Our Reach

As our customer base continued to grow, so did our network of trusted service partners across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Strengthening these relationships allowed us to expand our reach, support more locations and build the nationwide service network that remains central to R-TEC today.
2019
A New Era for Rational Technical Services

A significant milestone in the company's history, with a gradual management handover from founder Steve and Lynne Jenkins to Lee and Jane Wilmot.

Bringing extensive industry knowledge and experience in managing major customer relationships, Lee took the business forward while building on the foundations established by Steve.
2022
A New Identity. New Capabilities.

Rational Technical Services officially became R-TEC, marking a significant step in the company's evolution.

The introduction of Skunk Works, our dedicated bespoke fabrication division, opened the door to new engineering capabilities, allowing us to develop innovative, practical solutions tailored to our customers' needs.
2023
Expanding Our Operations

R-TEC continued to grow with the purchase of a neighbouring unit, providing a dedicated facility for our expanding Skunk Works fabrication division.

The development of our logistics team, transport capabilities and warehouse stock management system further strengthened our operations, allowing us to manage equipment, parts and deliveries more efficiently.
2024-2025
Planning for the Future

With R-TEC continuing to expand, we had outgrown our existing premises and needed a facility that could support our long-term ambitions.

The discovery of a suitable plot of land marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter, with plans developed for purpose-built facilities designed to support R-TEC's growth over the next decade.
2026
A New Home. A Bigger Future.

In 2026, R-TEC moved into its new premises, providing dedicated facilities for our office operations and fabrication division.

With three in-house regional Chief Engineers, six service vans on the road and an expanding team across the business, the move represents a significant milestone in R-TEC's development.

The year also saw R-TEC achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification, reinforcing our commitment to quality management and continual improvement.

Nearly two decades of experience. And we're just getting started.

From our beginnings as Rational Technical Services in 2007 to the growing engineering business we are today, R-TEC has come a long way.

With purpose-built facilities, dedicated fabrication and logistics operations, an expanding in-house engineering team and a trusted nationwide service network, we're better equipped than ever to support our customers across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
